A security camera attached to the side of a housing complex captured the sweet video below that can only melt your heart while it softens your face into a smile.
The camera picked up footage of an elephant picking something up of his own. The big guy had found a piece of litter on the ground, and being the sweetheart he is, he picked it up and placed it in the trash.
There’s an important lesson for humanity here and it may not be the one you think. No, a wild elephant DID NOT wander off the plains of Africa, scratch his head upon seeing the trash, and say “I think that belongs in a tin cylinder.”
A wild elephant wouldn’t understand the concept of litter because it doesn’t exist in the wild.
What likely happened was a case of “monkey see, monkey do.”
This elephant probably hangs around the complex and he has probably seen humans throw trash in the garbage a hundred times. Perhaps one of the people in the area has even taught the elephant a trick or too since they are very trainable animals.
Having watched the behavior hundreds of times, the highly intelligent mammal was able to draw conclusions on his own about where garbage goes.
The important lesson here is one of influence. Humans influenced the world around them, like when they taught this elephant a trick and a lesson, possibly without even realizing it. The elephant, in turn, reacted and went on to be an influence himself.
