Animals end up in shelters for all sorts of different reasons. From kittens who were born on the street to dogs who have lost their owners after many, many years together.
No matter how they fell into a shelter’s care, one thing is true for every animal: they don’t want to be behind bars. Shelters can be noisy, unfamiliar, and scary places to a scared animal like Peanut, a sweet beagle mix who spent almost two weeks in a high-kill shelter that felt more like a lifetime.
Luckily, a man came along who needed Peanut is his life just as badly as she needed him. According to the dog’s rescuer Eric Fox, “Peanut is about 1-year-old. She was adopted after spending 12 days in a kill shelter.” Peanut’s life would have undoubtedly been cut short if she spent any more time at the kill shelter, but Fox saved her life and she couldn’t be more grateful.
