Mom Who Had Healthy Pregnancy Is Shocked By Baby’s Missing Eyes

When someone is about to be a new parent, you’ll often hear them say that their only wish is for their child to be born healthy.

So when a baby is born sick or a little different, it can understandably be a devastating blow to surprised parents, but nothing could have prepared Liu Peihua of Guangzhou, China for the first time she saw her baby boy.

That’s because her son couldn’t see her back, as he was born without eyes or any eye tissue. Peihua’s baby has a rare eye condition known as anophthalmia that affects only one in about 100,000 newborns.

The new mom was devastated, as she was not alerted beforehand by doctors. According to the Daily Mail, anophthalmia can not be detected in an ultrasound and the baby is otherwise healthy.

Peihua said she was devastated by her son’s condition, but will do anything she can to help him live a normal life, which could mean surgery to insert artificial eyes to help his face form correctly.

For now, all that can be done is to send prayers that doctors can help this poor baby.
