A little black bear cub and his family were crossing a road in Virginia, when his mom and sibling were tragically hit by a car and killed. 

The poor cub was left all alone, so he crawled into the forest to hide. Police nearby heard what they thought was screaming, so they rushed into the forest to see what was wrong. They found the black cub in distress and took to Facebook to write about it. 

“Unfortunately, the momma bear and another cub were struck and killed by a motorist,”Augusta County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a Facebook post.

Officers took the petrified bear and drove him to the Wildlife Center of Virginia in Waynesboro.

While the cub was weary of humans, he allowed Dr. Dave McRuer to examine him and was thankfully given a clean bill of health. Without his family, however, this cub was unlikely to survive on his own. 

But, luckily, he’s not alone. While none of the bears have human-like names, as the center does not name animals who eventually will be wild again, the cub now has two new siblings- a brother and sister. And since his companions both have tags on their ears, and he does not, he’s been going by the funny nickname of “No Tag.”

Amanda Nicholson, director of outreach at the Wildlife Center of Virginia told The Dodo,

“We were caring for two other cubs when No Tag arrived, so the three cubs are now being raised together and find comfort in one another,” Nicholson says. “The three of them play, wrestle, sleep and eat together.”

While No Tag is a bit cautious, he’s adjusting slowly to his new environment, and next spring, he will be released into the wild with the other two bear cubs.

Bobby Wesson wanted to pay a tribute to his hard-working wife, who also happens to be nurse. 

Wesson is a writer based in Birmingham, Alabama, and when he took a picture of his wife Rayena, napping with their child, and shared it to Facebook, it received over 190,000 shares. 

In the post, Wesson shares that his wife has busy 14-hour days in addition to being a faithful and loving mother and wife. He continues:

“This is my wife taking a nap. In an hour she will wake up, put on her scrubs and get ready for work.

The tools and items she needs to perform her job will be gathered and checked meticulously – her hair and makeup will be done quickly. She will complain that she looks awful. I will disagree, emphatically, and get her a cup of coffee.

She will sit on the couch with her legs crossed under her and try to drink it while happily playing with the toddler that’s crawling all over her.

She will occasionally stare off blankly as we talk; silently steeling herself for the coming shift. She thinks I don’t notice.

She will kiss the baby, she will kiss me and she will leave to go take care of people that are having the worst day of their entire lives. Car wrecks, gunshot wounds, explosions, burns and breaks – professionals, poor, pastors, addicts and prostitutes – mothers, fathers, sons, daughters and families – it doesn’t matter who you are or what happened to you.

She will take care of you.

She will come home 14 hours later and remove shoes that have walked through blood, bile, tears and fire from aching feet and leave them outside.

Sometimes she will not want to talk about it. Sometimes she can’t wait to talk about it.

Sometimes she will laugh until she cries and sometimes she will just cry – but regardless of those sometimes she will be on time for her next shift.

My wife is a nurse. My wife is a hero,” Wesson wrote.

For most expecting parents, checkups at the doctor are filled with exciting moments like seeing their unborn baby for the first time and finding out if they’re having a boy or a girl.

For one Idaho couple, checkups at the doctor had always marked exciting milestones, but everything changed when they went in for a routine appointment at 23 weeks where they were scheduled to find out their baby’s sex. “We were going in for one of the happiest times of our lives and come out walking like we just heard the worst news we could’ve ever heard,” Ben Reidhead said.

While looking at the baby, doctors realized the baby’s brain was growing outside of his skull, and told Ben and Alyssa Reidhead the devastating news that their unborn son suffered from a rare condition called encephalocele.

“They just kept saying oh he’ll be born but he’ll only live for a couple minutes or if you go through labor, he’ll probably pass away during labor,” Alyssa said. Instead of planning a baby shower, the couple planned a funeral and began dreading the upcoming due date. “Almost scared of having the baby come not because we didn’t want him to come but just because we were afraid of losing him,” Ben said.

When it came time for delivery, however, baby Will miraculously survived and has been breathing well without any help. “He’s not hooked up to anything. He’s breathing fine. He’s lifting his head. He’s moving around. He’s pretty much acting like a completely normal baby,” Alyssa said.

The couple knows there’s a long, and uncertain road in front of them, as their son was diagnosed with an even rarer disease called cutis aplasia after doctors realized he was missing the back of his skull completely, but are overjoyed that their baby is doing so well.

“They’ve been consulting with a lot of other doctors and trying to figure out exactly what is the best option,” Ben said as his days-old son had already undergone one successful surgery.

Like many other parents, Koto Nakamura and her husband Sina Niakansafy chose to know the sex of their baby, and were overjoyed when the ultrasound technician informed them that they were expecting a baby girl. The Australian couple picked out a name for their little girl, and received pink and feminine gifts from friends and family at their baby shower.

However, when Nakamura went to the hospital and went into labor, the stunned doctor informed the couple they had just given birth to a baby boy, not a baby girl. “I thought everyone was joking,” Nakamura said. “I lost words and I couldn’t believe it until I saw his bottom.”

“I was shocked for a few seconds, and then it didn’t matter if it was a girl or a boy,” Nakamura said.

“This was one of the most amazing moments — a roller coaster of emotions in just a few short minutes,” said birth photographer Jessica Jackson. “Pure shock, disbelief, excitement, happiness and relief. Imagine when (the baby) is all grown up and his parents are telling his birth story to him and they have these images to share the way they looked when they found out this news.”

Photographer Captures The Shocking Moment Mom Finds Out She Gave Birth To A Boy is an article from: LifeDaily

It’s not uncommon for parents to find bumps and bruises on their kids, and when one UK mom felt a small lump on her daughter’s cheek while applying sunscreen on her face, she thought nothing of it.

Tracey Payton originally spotted a small lump on her daughter Emma’s face while applying sunscreen on her face during a family trip to Egypt, and figured it was a bug bite. “You couldn’t really see it but it was rock hard, like a pebble, the way that swollen insect bites can sometimes be. It was about the size of a marble. I just thought she’d been bitten in the night,” Tracey said.

“We didn’t think anything of it. She said she had had it for ages and it didn’t hurt, so we weren’t overly concerned. It was just like an insect bite,” Tracey said.

However, the cautious mom took her daughter to the doctor to have it checked out when they returned home, and an MRI scan revealed the ‘insect bite’ was actually a rare form of soft tissue cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma, which had wrapped around her cheekbone.

“When we found out it was cancer my legs were like jelly. Emma was outside the room with the play worker when the consultant told us. I thought, ‘No, it can’t be. This is our child.’ My heart broke into a million pieces,” mom said.

Luckily, the cancer was detected early enough, and Emma underwent facial surgery, chemotherapy, and proton beam therapy, which targets the tumor directly and avoids healthy tissue and organs, to remove and kill the tumor, and has since been in remission.

“Emma gets embarrassed about it now, if people tell her she is amazing or brave. She sees herself as a normal kid who happened to get cancer. She always just got on with it,” Tracey said. “But she is so active and just loves life.”

She continued, single moms “don’t want a new dad for their kids,” and “their kids aren’t disadvantaged.” “The only disadvantage children of single parents face is the knowledge that their mum is being judged,” Hall said.

“They don’t want your husbands,” Hall wrote. “They didn’t spend all this time getting rid of theirs and supporting their kids and working their arses off to have to wake up next to your farting, snoring, horny delight. He is all yours.”

Hall added, “Today I’m saluting single mums. I was raised by one, I respect them and I admire the shit out of them,”

A former marketing director, Denise started her blog, “American Mama,” and quickly became known as an influencer in the world of mommy blogs. Denise had a monthly readership in the tens of thousands and generated nearly $12,000 in the first six months alone. However, the fake, yet cheerful front Denise created had started to wear thin on her.

“I was playing [a board] game with [my family], but I wasn’t really there,” said Denise. “I was watching and thinking about how I was going to caption the photo I’d take. It all took away from real time with my kids.”

Readers were shocked to find that Denise shut down her blog and wrote, “Nobody is reading your s–t,” Denise wrote in a post entitled “Dear Mommy Blogger.” “You are not being helpful, and you are not being interesting.”

Denise tells her followers that she has been manipulated by big brands, and wasted tons of money on professional advice. She even says that many bloggers are afraid to tell the truth when they’re doing product reviews since they get paid to write about them. But after switching up the tone of her blog and making it more authentic and genuine, Denise tells Good Morning America she feels relieved. She says she did not intend to attack an industry, and only wanted to show others that there is a better way to live.

Denise’s last words of advice are to “just quit.” “Quit now before you get burnt out and feel guilty. Quit before you realize you wasted years of your life writing bulls*** about your kids’ childhood and your relationships instead of being actually involved.”

Nurse Shares Heartbreaking Photo Revealing What It’s Really Like To Work In The NICU is an article from: LifeDaily

A little boy named Henry Marr watched a video about pollution, and he was so upset about it, he broke down in the car. 

Henry’s mother caught the entire meltdown on camera and posted it to Facebook for family and friends to see, unaware that millions would soon watch the video. 

Henry is clearly distraught, sobbing the entire time and saying, “They throw trash on the ground. They cut down trees. They make forests into places.”

“They need to think about what they are doing to the planet and what they are doing to animals,
Henry continues. “They are being so bad. I could just call them dumb people…or maybe even a bad word…the “S” word.” 

“And I just don’t want animals to die,” Henry says. “I wish I was adult right now.” When mom steps in and asks Henry why he wishes he were an adult, Henry responds, “I just want to do my job right now.” 

Since the emotional video, Henry has written a book entitled, “Enjoy the Planet, Don’t Wreck It.” 

He’s also taken it upon himself to patrol his neighborhood park, Little Mountain Park, and watch out for baby animals and litter bugs.

And if he sees a “naughty person,” Henry blows his whistle. 

Henry hopes to try and get the whole United States to clean the planet, and one day wants to be a park ranger.

Adorable 6-Year-Old Gets Emotional Over Environmental Issues is an article from: LifeDaily

The Jackson family were lucky to escape their burning home last Thursday, all thanks to their dog, Thor.

Firefighters were called to Camp Taylor neighborhood in Louisville, KY, where they found smoke and flames engulfing the home. If it wasn’t for the family’s loving Rottweiler, Thor, all 8 members of the family may not be alive.

“He barked for several minutes before I woke up,” Bobby Jackson told kgw.com. “I got up and saw smoke in the house, and within a few minutes of when we got outside the flames went from one room to the whole top floor that quick.”

Thor helped the family get out of the house and across the street to safety. And as firefighters battled the flames, Thor even played with the kids to put their minds at ease.

“Without him we probably wouldn’t be alive right now,” Hailey Jackson said.

“I’m glad he was there because the fire alarms didn’t go off at all,” Bobby Jackson said. “It was like he was trained to do that, to get us out and be safe.”

With the house completely burnt down, Thor is currently staying with a family member out of town, while the kids are planning a thank you for their hero.

“We’re going to buy him a big ol’ steak and feed it to him,” Shawn Jackson said.

Most teenage boys would be mortified if their mother showed up at their senior prom while they were having fun with friends and dancing the night away with their dates, however, mom was the only person one Idaho teen dreamed of having by his side as he went to prom.

After one Twin Falls mom, Kerry Huffaker, was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer this past February, she was given just 20 months to live. Despite the devastating prognosis, Kerry tried her best to focus on the present instead of her uncertain future, but couldn’t help think about how she’d never get to see her son Dylan get married.

“I try not to focus too much on the future,” Kerry said. “I try to live today as best as I can, but [thought], ‘Who’s going to dance with my son when the mom is supposed to dance with the groom at his wedding day?'”

While there was no way 17-year-old Dylan could make his mom better, he figured they could share a special dance together at his prom.”I was taken by surprise, that’s for sure,” Kerry said after her son surprised her while she was getting radiation treatment with a box of donuts that had a message saying ‘will you go to prom with me’ written in icing .

“My reaction was, ‘You don’t want to go to prom with your old, bald mom. You’ll be embarrassed.’ And he said,’No I won’t. I’ll have the prettiest date there.'”

On prom night, Dylan was stunned when he saw his mom all dressed up in a black gown. “That was the most beautiful I think I’ve ever seen her,” Dylan said. “I thought about it and I can look back after years and years and remember who I went to prom with. I’ll know it was someone I loved who meant something to me.”

“[The D.J.] cleared the dance floor and let us dance the first half, just me and my mom,” Dylan said. “I put her through 17 years of hard times, so it’s worth it to take her to prom. I love that my mom is as caring as she is. No matter what you’re going through, she’s willing to help — no matter what hard times she’s facing.”

Loving Son Brings Mom With Terminal Cancer To Prom is an article from: LifeDaily

No parent is thrilled with the idea of leaving their child with strangers at a daycare center, but it’s a reality many working parents have to face as they are forced to trust that their children are being cared for by capable and responsible employees.

Ohio mom Ryane Lamb thought she was doing the right thing for her 2-year-old son Amari by leaving him at a Cleveland daycare center so she could go to work until she picked him up one afternoon, and found him covered in welts and bruises. Lamb immediately took Amari to the hospital since the bruising was so bad, and then went to the police.

The police got a hold of the security footage from the daycare, but Lamb was shocked when she finally saw the footage of an employee hitting her son 22 times with a plastic back scratcher, and shoving him to the ground.

“I could not believe…Just looking at that, that this place even had the audacity to do that to my baby for no reason, he didn’t deserve it at all,” Lamb said with tears in her eyes.

All the involved employees including the 49-year-old who committed the abuse and another employee who witnessed the incident but did nothing about it were instantly fired, and warrants have also been filed against them.

Breastfeeding is not just a source of nourishment for babies, but it’s also an important way for mom and baby to bond. However, when one mom no longer had a baby to drink her breast milk, she decided to do something not every mother would be strong enough to do.

Sarah Rieke was thrilled when she found out she was pregnant not just because of the addition to her family, but because her best friend Lauren Casper was in the process of adopting a baby girl from Ethiopia, and the two were due to arrive around the same time. When Rieke went in to find out the sex of her baby at 20 weeks, however, doctors discovered there were complications and her little girl wouldn’t survive more than a few hours after birth.

“I prepared my nursery for the homecoming of my daughter and Rieke planned a funeral,” Casper said. “We spent a lot of mornings together crying and talking and even laughing at times. She threw me a baby shower and gave me two blankets out of a packet of four… the other two would be wrapped around her daughter after she was born.”

As Rieke’s due date approached and Casper brought her adopted daughter Arsema home, Rieke couldn’t help but think about what would happen after the birth and approached her friend.“I was wondering if you would like to have my breast milk after Evie is born. I thought maybe you could use it to feed Arsema. I don’t know how long I’ll pump or how much I’ll be able to produce, but I’d love to give it to you if you want it,” Rieke offered.

A month after Arsema was brought home, Rieke went into labor, but her daughter, who she named Evie, only lived for four hours. Rieke was devastated, but a week later she began delivering milk to her friend.

“I wish I could have breastfed my children. Sarah wishes she could have fed her daughter (and so do I… oh so do I). But life doesn’t always make sense. When everything is broken and mixed up, we have to create our own beauty from the pieces.”

A 6-year-old boy from Quincy, Massachusetts, may not be old enough to drive, but he knows the rules of the road: Green means go, red means stop, and yellow means slow down.

On Friday, Robbie Richardson called 911 to report that his father ran a red light. According to a Facebook post from the Quincy Police Department, they wrote, “Every day we answer numerous 911 calls. Often times, these calls are from individuals who are in need of immediate assistance. Sometimes, it’s a simple misdial. Then there’s Robert’s 9-1-1 call. Robert is a six year old resident of Quincy….” 

Audio from Robbie’s emergency call explains that he was upset about his dad ran a red light on the way to the car wash. He describes the car that they were in, saying, “He has a black truck. It was in a brand-new car, my mommy’s car.”

When the dispatcher asked what happened, Robbie said, “And then we had to go to the car wash and then he went past the red light.” The dispatcher asked to talk to Robbie’s father, Michael, who then apologized for his son’s 911 call. 

“I’m just wanting to apologize — that’s my 5-year-old son,” he said.

Michael and the dispatcher both laughed, but Michael says that he taught Robbie to call 911 only in emergencies. Apparently, Robbie thought this was an emergency. 

Robbie says he plans to formally enter law enforcement, as a police officer, when he is older.
