Most of us have experienced some kind of trauma in our childhood, but few will know the shock and horror that 14-year-old Ashley Smith went through when she was just over one year old.

Smith was born to Melissa Wright in 2001, and when Smith was just 14-months-old her mom did something that will  make you sick.

The mentally disturbed mother put her young child in a 600-degree oven.

“Evidence showed that Melissa removed the racks out of the oven, turned it to broil and waited for it to heat up and then put Ashley head first into that oven,” Elmore County District Attorney Randall Houston said.

Wright pleaded guilty to attempted murder, and was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

On Tuesday, Smith, the Elmore County District Attorney’s Office and the AG’s Office protested the early release of Wright. Painful pictures of Smith’s childhood burn wounds and stretched scar tissue, quickly captured the board’s attention.

Smith bravely read a letter to the Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles about Wright, only identifying her biological mother as Melissa, calling her aunt who has raised her, as mother.

“I can’t imagine anyone being in as much pain as I went through mentally and physically,” Smith said. “Now I have a great life thanks to my mom, dad, stepbrothers and sisters.”

After a short discussion, the board promptly denied Wright’s parole. A board member spoke directly to Smith stating he was impressed with her recovery.

“Good luck to you, we are really sorry for your troubles,” the board member stated but Wright will be serving her full sentence of 25 years. When Wright is eventually released, Smith will be old enough to decide for herself if she wants to maintain a relationship with her biological mother. Smith will be up for parole again in 2021.

Mom Is Denied Parole 14 Years After Placing Her Child In Broiling Oven is an article from: LifeDaily

Just when you thought you’d heard it all, you come across a story like this one.

A Vermont man has admitted to killing his girlfriend’s severely disabled child by putting vodka in the boy’s feeding tube. He has since been sentenced to three years in prison.

Walter Richters of Hardwick was sentenced earlier this week in St. Johnsbury under a plea deal with prosecutors. He was given credit for 1½ years he’s already served, according to local news.

Richters pleaded guilty in October to manslaughter in the 2014 death of 13-year-old Isaac Robitille at the Hardwick home they shared with Isaac’s mother.

The hilariously ironic BoogiesOogie, who shared this story on Imgur, tells of what happened when a pregnant cat crashed on his couch.

Like an unwanted roommate, she showed up unexpectedly when an order of food was delivered to the house.

“Sandwich is an a**hole” we writes about the cat who was appropriately named after the food he ordered. “She jumped on my porch when Jimmy Johns delivered, and wouldn’t leave.”

“Sitting on my porch like a proudly purchased bumper sticker for running a half marathon that she didn’t finish. A**hole.”

But the plot thickens: it turns out sandwich wasn’t just a bum, she was also pregnant with an entire litter of kittens.

To that, the witty dude writes:

“She decided It was acceptable to have her b*stards in my home. After I took her homeless a** to the vet, to make sure she didn’t have AIDs and sh*t, they told me she had 6 more squatters in her dumb cat uterus.”

“Look at these non-rent paying, muscle deficient, 6 piece chicken McNobodies. I layed out a perfectly good 3’x3′ cardboard box with blankets and comfy a** bedding, but no, this asshole had to have her kids on the GOTDAMNED carpet!”

And it gets worse! He then writes this:

“I don’t have a problem with breastfeeding in public, but she had to do it in my house like the sh*tbird she is.”

“Tiny little alcoholics. They don’t even like good beer”

He then shares about how he “had to touch these disgusting insufferable [dumbwits] with my own two hands.”

And he took a picture of the whole kitten kaboodle, noting that the little buggers don’t know how to take a proper family photo.

The charming BoogiesOogie concluded by saying, “I have to wake up to this, filthy cuddle puddle of unemployable ham-fisted nitwits.”

Pregnant Cat Invades Man’s Home And Delivers Kittens On His Rug is an article from: LifeDaily

Hey may be cute to look at, but it only takes a moment to realize this dog, who walks a lot like either a T-Rex or Kangaroo, is clearly in a bit of pain.

As much as we love watching dogs do funny things, sometimes those funny things are the result of mistreatment, abuse, or pitiful pain.

In the case of Crest, the dog who walks oddly upright, we have no idea why he walks this way and neither do his vets. We only know that he needs his gait corrected and it needs to be fixed quickly.

 Now in the process of healing, the funny animal will hopefully be walking correctly again. No animal deserves what this dog has been through, whatever he may have been through, so we’re pulling for him to make a fast recovery.

We live in a world that often tells us “boys don’t cry.”

Men have to be tough and never show emotions, but sometimes showing his emotions is one of the toughest things a man can do.

Take for example, Jason Wilson, the founder of The Cave of Adullam Transformational Training Academy in Detroit, Michigan. The non-profit martial arts academy wants to “create a generation of men who are physically conscious and spiritually strong enough to navigate through the pressures of this world without succumbing to their emotions.”

The training academy works with boys who have unresolved anger, ADHD symptoms, anxiety, and fear. They work to help conquer those issues in a productive responsible way.

Wilson elaborates in the video saying:

During these perverse times, it’s truly vital that we, the men and fathers of this generation, do not allow our boys to grow up with a false sense of masculinity like many of us did. As a result, we have a mass amount of emotionally unstable men walking in unresolved anger, confusion and depression, instead of power, love and discipline. So we place strong emphasis on allowing our recruits to openly express their emotions, so that we can teach them how to use those emotions to their benefit, and become a comprehensive man of God.

After giving birth to her new son, a woman in Germany was shocked to hear somebody had tried to abduct the child right out of the maternity ward.

Shocking as this may be, perhaps the most surprising part of the story comes from who noticed something was strange.

The woman’s 9-year-old son, who has not been named because of his age, saw a woman lingering around the hospital room while the mother was sleeping. The boy thought something was suspicious and made a mental note of the oddity.

Later, the woman, who is identified only as a 34-year-old woman from Hamburg, was spotted taking the child from the hospital room while the mother was sleeping.

The woman was quickly arrested and taken to a psychiatric ward.

Meanwhile, the big brother just became a big hero. This story could have ended much differently if it wasn’t for his cautious eye and quick-thinking.

Police spokesman Ulf Wundrack said Monday that the boy’s actions contributed “significantly” to the baby’s return.

9-Year-Old Saves Newborn Brother From Being Abducted In Hospital Room is an article from: LifeDaily

Getting kids up in the morning to get ready for school and actually getting them to school on time seems like mission impossible for many moms, however, after one mom’s car kept breaking down, it pretty much was.

25-year-old mom Nicole Garloff  was on her way to school one morning to drop off her 6-year-old son Hunter when her Dodge Durango broke down again.“[The school has] a policy where every three tardies, you get a detention,” Garloff said. “Every tardy after that, you get a detention.” And since Hunter had already been late a few time after the family’s car broke down, they knew he’d be getting a detention that day.

Garloff was heartbroken when she finally got her son, who was in tears, to school and even though they were only a few minutes later, the school gave him detention.

Garloff knew how upset her little boy was, so she decided to stop by during lunch time to make sure he was alright, but as she walked in she finally realized why Hunter was so scared of getting detention.

“He was at the first table as you walk into the cafeteria, and he was just sitting there with one of those cardboard poster partitions in front of him … and two or three books next to him,” Garloff said. Normally, late students are forced to make up missed work during the lunch detention, but since Hunter didn’t miss anything, the teachers gave him a book to read while they basically shamed him in front of the entire school. “I was really upset. I went and got my iPad and took a picture of him. He wasn’t tardy so many times that he deserved that.”

After Garloff shared the upsetting photo on social media in the spring of 2015, however, the community rallied around her and her family and fixed up a donated 2001 Chrysler Town and Country van to the family.

Aside from the new car, the school also announced that they would be improving their late policy.“As a result of the concerns raised, the district ended the learning catch-up location at Lincoln Elementary School,” the Grants Pass District said. “Going forward, a separate, supervised classroom has been designated for necessary catch-up work.”

Catherine saw the Kahn all of a sudden was getting aggressive and was pushing Charlotte around the yard.

Suddenly, without warning, Kahn picked up Charlotte up by the diaper and tossed her across the yard!

Catherine screamed in horror, running over to hear young daughter and trying to get the dog away. But she quickly realized that the dog wasn’t trying to hurt the little girl, he was trying to save her. , but she soon saw what the problem was – a poisonous snake was in the yard and had been heading toward Charlotte – Kahn had just saved her life!

From what? A poisonous snake was in the yard inches away from Charlotte. The dog’s quick thinking had saved the little girl’s life.

When Mom Dixie first laid eyes on her now-adopted son Danny, she knew he would become a great son. She was right.

Despite his developmental delays, the mother of two adopted kids was unfazed. She knew that Danny was hers.

Growing up, Danny looked like a normal boy, but he had weak motor skills. His developmental delay had made it difficult for him to finish a complete sentence. Danny could only speak in fragments. He also had a hard time potty training. Nevertheless, Dixie and her husband, Edward, made sure Danny and all their children received everything they needed, at least for the most part.

Dixie gave her children plenty of love, kindness, and attention. The one thing she didn’t give her kids: a dog.

However, the family’s neighbor, Dennie, trained search dogs. And it didn’t take much for this story to go in a different direction.

Denie was in the middle of training a dog a named Saki  when she noticed something strange. Every day, Saki would go around the yard as if she was looking for a way to escape. Until one day, she finally broke free.

Saki was sneaking out of the yard to play with Danny every morning.

In fact, the first complete sentence Danny ever said was, “I am Saki’s daddy.” Saki helped Danny overcome a lot of his delays, even encouraging him as he became potty-trained.

Seeing the effect Saki has on her son, Dixie begged Dennie to convince the organization if they could have Saki. Although the organization refused at first, they eventually agreed after seeing Saki interact with Danny. It was obvious that the two were soulmates.

Mom Finds Missing Dog Playing With Neighbor’s Disabled Child is an article from: LifeDaily

We often call moms superheroes for everything they put up with and manage to accomplish all while raising their children, but one mom truly earned the title after bravely putting her own health at risk to save four teenage boys.

Canadian mom of three, Lelania Chapman had just gotten out of her final chemotherapy treatment after being diagnosed with breast cancer, however, before she left, doctors had delivered the devastating news that her cancer had spread.

Despite the discouraging news, Chapman had to stay strong since her 9-year-old son Gwindin was with her. Instead of going straight home, she decided to bring her little boy and three of his friends from the neighborhood on a waterfall hike near their home in Maple Ridge to show him a place she had loved as a child.

While walking, one of the children thought they heard screaming, however, the waterfall drowned out so much noise that it was barely audible. Chapman went to check and make sure nothing was wrong, and found four teenage boys stranded on a cliff beside the waterfall. She immediately tried calling for help, but her phone had no service.

Chapman couldn’t leave the boys, so quickly got out a rope from her backpack and got to work coming up with a plan to save them. Although the chemotherapy had made her weak, she tied the rope around a tree and around her waist, tossed it to the boys, and prepared to pull them up.

Chapman decided to start with the biggest boy, who was 6 feet tall and weighed 160 pounds, and despite not being able to pick up a watermelon, she managed to pull him up. “I don’t know how I picked him up by myself,” she said. “I don’t really know to this day. I’ve never been in a situation like that before and you never know what you are going to be like. No matter what, you are a lot stronger than you think you are.”

Eventually, Chapman and the teenager helped the other two boys up despite tearing open some of her radiation burns and surgery scars. And this show of strength and bravery was proof to Chapman’s little boy that she would beat her cancer. “He said ‘You know what, mom? You are going to [beat] cancer because you are the strongest mom around,'” she said. “That is probably one of the most important lessons that I learned that day. I do have the strength.”

Mom Battling Cancer Finds Strength To Rescue 4 Teen Boys is an article from: LifeDaily

Whenever you have a baby, no matter the process you use to become pregnant, you’re always taking a gamble. But one Mom was shocked by how her baby turned out when the sperm banked mixed up samples.

Jennifer Cramblett from Ohio filed a lawsuit against the sperm bank for being given the wrong sperm, sperm from a black man, but her case has been dismissed.

The lawsuit was filed against Midwest Sperm Bank alleging wrongful birth and breach of warranty. Judge Ronald Sutter threw out the case, reports The Guardian.

The judge told Cramblett she would be able to refile the lawsuit under a negligence claim.

When the mistake was discovered, the clinic offered the couple a partial refund and an apology.

Cramblett says she loves her 3-year-old daughter, but that she was raised around stereotypical views of minorities and that she has “limited cultural competency” with African-Americans.

Sutter said that the case could not proceed under either of those standards.

Midwest Sperm Bank’s attorney Bob Summers argued during the case that “wrongful birth” does not apply if the baby is born healthy, which Cramblett’s daughter was.

“Wrongful birth” cases address cases where medical testing failed to show risks of congenital or hereditary disorders to a child before birth, according to Summers.

Take, for example, this tragic story that thankfully had a happy ending about a mother who tried to bake her toddler daughter in a 600-degree oven. Even many years later, the motive and circumstances of that shocking story are unclear.

While police don’t have all the information about a woman charged with felony child abuse, they know one thing is certain: something does not add up about 23-year-old Kimberly Martines’ young daughter’s condition.

This Spartansburg, South Carolina mother has been accused of feeding her 17-month-old daughter a nearly fatal amount of salt. While you may not think salt is very poisonous, just one teaspoon of salt was enough to cause the toddler to have seizures and a high fever, according to a press release from Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Kevin Bobo.

The mother was later arrested after the baby was admitted to the hospital, where she remains on life support. The hospital’s staff immediately notified the sheriff’s office of the baby’s hypernatremia, or salt poisoning, which occurs when excess salt is present in the bloodstream, causing cells to shrink as water rushes out of them. This can lead to torn blood vessels as the cells are forced out of their normal location, WYFF 4 wrote online.

Police don’t know why the mother gave her daughter such a startling amount of salt, but while her daughter remains on life support, her twin and older child are in protective custody.

Nothing can compare to losing a young child, but we can’t imagine how one Arkansas mother will live with herself after the way her baby spent her last moments.

Twenty-five-year-old Brooke Haney of Hampton has been charged with child endangerment after a long history of drug abuse and trouble with the law, but what happened to her young daughter, Alexis is every parent’s worst nightmare.

On the night of October 25, 2015, it’s believed that Haney passed out and took a nap after a drug binge on the psychoactive drug prescription drug benzodiazepine, which causes dizziness, drowsiness and decreased alertness.

The mother-of-three, who faces two felony counts, one that stems from an incident when she walked into oncoming traffic while her seven-month-old was in the car, woke up from the “nap” to realize her daughter was no longer in her bed. A neighbor helped search the family’s home, where they discovered Alexis’ tiny, lifeless body inside the washing machine.

Haney’s 7-year-old told police that Alexis would enjoy helping their mother with laundry from time to time.

“Haney could face up to six years on each charge if she is convicted,” according to the Daily Mail. “The mother also has a previous case open in the Louisiana Department of Human Services for allegedly abusing drugs while pregnant with Brooklyn, as well as long-term abuse of both legal and illegal drugs.”

Tattoos are a very personal choice and everyone gets inked for their own reasons. However, normally a person will want to get a tattoo in a place where they can show it off on occasion, but can be covered up when they want it to be as well.

That’s not the case for Veronica Quintanilla and her daughter Victoria Vargas. After her mother’s second bout with breast cancer, Vargas decided that she shouldn’t be bald on her own and decided to shave off her sassy green hair for a much shorter look.

“These tattoos are something special between my daughter and me, never to be seen again,” Veronica Quintanilla, 47, told TODAY. “I’ve been bald twice in my life because of cancer. I don’t plan to ever go bald again.”

The 21-year-old, who got a much smaller “baby bow” than her mom’s giant one, became very close with her Quintanilla during her heartbreaking second battle with breast cancer.

Quintanilla said that she hopes in time that they will forget the tattoos are even there and her long journey to be cancer-free.

When a child graduates from school, it’s customary for the parents to celebrate their child’s accomplishment, however, when one Illinois teen came together with family for her graduation party, she stunned her mom’s longtime boyfriend with a gift of his own.

For 17 years, Joe Iosco has been the father figure in Lauren Hernandez’s life and has raised her as his own from the first day he stepped into the picture when she was just a tiny, year-old baby. To thank him for everything he’s done for her and loving her like his own daughter, Lauren decided to surprise him with a gift during her graduation party.

In the middle of the party, Lauren and her mom had everyone gather around so she could give her mom’s stunned boyfriend a present. Joe, who had no idea what was waiting inside, was confused at first, but then found a framed poem.

After finishing reading the poem, he was urged to keep looking, and at the bottom of the box were adoption papers that would legally make him Lauren’s dad. “I never doubted that he was my dad. The fact that it’s going to be official makes me happy,” Lauren said. “He’s been there for everything for me.”

“I’ve wanted nothing more than to be her dad from Day One,” said Joe who was raised in a separated family. And after raising Lauren as his daughter, Joe said her gift is “one of the best things I’ve ever received in my life.”

“When your kids are born, you automatically love them,” Lauren’s mom Sally Hernandez said. “He chose to do for her what he does for his biological daughters.”

Any parent who’s ever had a baby in the NICU knows how awful it feels to be powerless in protecting and keeping your baby healthy, which is why one mom jumped at the chance to do anything she could to help her baby boy.

Demi Frandsen’s baby boy, Leo, was born two months premature and spent the following 10 months months in the NICU at Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Leo was extremely tiny, but his condition was further complicated when doctors discovered he was born with gastroschisis, a birth defect that causes the baby’s intestines and other organs to stick out of the body through a hole in the belly.

“There was no skin to pull over his exposed organs. It was kind of a new case they had never seen before,” Demi explained. And because of his condition, he couldn’t handle much breast milk, however, Demi continued to pump religiously since it was the most tangible thing she could do to improve her baby’s condition.

“With a Q-tip, we’d put it in my milk and we’d swab his mouth,” Demi said. Despite the obstacles, Leo seemed to be doing well, but then he suddenly passed away last October. Demi was obviously devastated, but after 10 months of pumping breast milk every three hours night and day, she was left with an abundance of breast milk that was meant for her son.

Instead of letting it go to waste, she selflessly decided to donate all 17,503 ounces- or 131 gallons- of breast milk. “Donating milk that was supposed to be for my son was emotional,” Demi explained.

“I pumped every single ounce for him. He is the reason for all of this. But if he couldn’t have it, I am so grateful that other babies like him could benefit from it. There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for my Leo, and I know other moms feel that desperate love as well. I am glad I can help those moms provide for their little fighter. Other babies surviving from Leo’s milk is just another way his life has affected and bettered the lives of so many others.”

“He was worth it. He was worth all of this,” Demi said. “His life in 10 months was the best 10 months of mine.”

When the summer heat becomes unbearable, many moms drag their kids to the pool, beach, or lake to cool off, and it seems one mother bear had the exact same idea when she brought her cubs down to the lake one sunny afternoon.

As temperatures rose around Lake Tahoe, many families decided to head down to the lake to enjoy some time out in the sun and in the water. But as one mom looked to check on her little kids, she suddenly saw a big, fluffy animal cooling off in the water.

At first, mom thought the fluffy animal was a dog since they love to cool down in water when it gets hot, but as she looked closer, she realized it was actually a black bear and her two babies.

Like all the other parents at the lake, the mother black bear thought it would be a great idea to stop by the lake for a swim, and everyone froze the minute they saw who had joined them in the water.

Mother bears are notoriously territorial and dangerous around people, but luckily, everyone gave the three bears enough space so they could cool off in peace.

Little kids and babies might look cute and innocent, but every parent knows that even the tiniest babies are capable of making huge, vomit-inducing messes. Luckily for one dad, however, his little girl is nice enough to give him enough warning to prepare.

When one dad found out his 8-year-old daughter Gracie wasn’t feeling well, he figured it would be a long night and couldn’t wait for the morning to come when she would hopefully feel a little better. That is, until he saw the note his little girl had left for him.

Gracie had been having stomach problems all day, and decided to warn her dad that her room might smell in the morning if she has an accident. “Dear Dad, My room might smell like poop in the morning. I now that because I have diaria,” Gracie graphically wrote in the note.

While no parent looks forward to cleaning ‘diaria’- or ‘soft poop’ as Gracie also calls it- as off bed sheets, Gracie’s dad, who goes by the username MySoulIsHome on Reddit, had to admit that at least his daughter was considerate. “Do not worry I have a towel just incase. Love, Gracie”

Little Girl Leaves Graphic Note To Warn Dad That She’s Sick is an article from: LifeDaily

Are you tired of hearing about all the evil people in the world? Here’s a sweet story that is guaranteed to put a smile back on your face.

With so much hate spreading around the world, it always helps to hear about random acts of kindness to offset the bad with some good. That’s why the story of a North Texas jewelry store worker’s generous and kind deed has taken the internet by storm this week.

The jewelry store worker, who wants to only be known as Noah, was recently caught on camera speaking with a local woman who wanted to sell a very important piece of jewelry given to her by her mother.

However, when Noah heard the woman, who brought along her two kids, speak about the family heirloom he denied her of the sale.

“It seemed like she was sad and there was tears in her eyes,” Noah told CBS Dallas-Fort Worth, realizing that the mother was broke and wanted to sell the gold necklace to pay for her bills.

“I let her tell me how much she wanted to sell it and I gave her exactly what money she wanted.”

CBS reported that the jewelry store employee not only dug into his own pockets, but after handing over a significant amount of money he gave back the necklace.

Security cameras caught the grateful mom’s incredible reaction on camera and the video has since gone viral.  “I didn’t think about it, I just grabbed the money. I grabbed the money and gave it to her,” said Noah. “If I had her number I would call her back and see if she needed more money or more help, I’ll do it for her.”

Noah, a Syrian refugee who escaped his war-torn country with his family two years ago, said he shared the video with a friend back home and was unaware they would upload the video online.

“I feel better and that’s enough. Better than a lot of money,” said Noah. “Doesn’t matter what religion you are. It doesn’t matter where you’re from. This is our humanity. Everybody should do that.”

Syrian Refugee Jeweler’s Act Of Kindness Goes Viral is an article from: LifeDaily

Being away from loved ones can be pretty difficult, but we can’t imagine how this family was torn apart for an entire decade!

Sweet family reunions, like this happy soldier’s homecoming, can always hit all our heartstrings, but the following video from Shannon Slattery has all the feels. Shannon’s partner and father to their young son, Christian, is Jeffrey, a carpenter whose touching video has since gone viral… after 10 years in the making.

“Jeff’s brother Axel got a visa in place for their mom, Madeline, who lives in Libreville, Gabon. (About 23 hours of traveling by plane),” Shannon wrote on YouTube.

“Jeffrey had not seen his brother (who lives in South Florida) in about 4 years. Axel let me know the day before that he and his mother would be flying in for a surprise visit. I cleaned the house nice and kept the secret from Jeffrey. Jeffrey and his mom had gotten by with keeping in touch via video chat and frequent phone conversations but 10 years is a long time without seeing each other,” she explained.

“This video is the epitome of what an upstanding man he is. He’s kind, loving, God fearing, patient, hardworking,and a loving father and family man. I’m grateful to God that he’s mine and I’m his💞💞💞. Thank you all for all of your support and interest in our story. God bless, love one another.”

Shannon went on to explain that many people are assuming her partner is an immigrant, even though he’s not. “He was raised back and forth between Paris, France and Libreville, Gabon. His mom was a flight attendant.”
