Polar bears might look like adorable, white fluffballs, however, they’re actually extremely dangerous predators. Typically, seals are their main source of food, however, they’ve been known to eat other land animals that they run into like reindeer, dogs, and other bears.

So when tour guide David De Meulles was out giving a tour and saw a wild polar bear approach a chained up Canadian Eskimo dog, he knew the dog was in a very dangerous situation but had no clue what the polar bear would do. “I had no idea what was going to happen,” David said.

Yet as David and the tour group watched, the polar bear sat down gently beside the dog, who didn’t appear to be afraid or agitated. But what they saw next left even David speechless. “And then, sure enough, he started petting that dog, acted like he was a friend,” David said. “I just so happened to catch the video of a lifetime.”

“I’ve known the bears to have somewhat friendly behavior with dogs, but for a bear to pet like a human would pet a dog is just mind-blowing,” David said of the ‘beautiful sight ‘. And while the polar bear only pet the dog with his paw and gently kissed his head, many were concerned that the dog was chained up and had no way of escaping if the interaction hadn’t been so friendly. “The dog was chained up and they’re totally vulnerable,” University of Alberta adjunct professor Ian Stirling told CBC News.

After 8 years of dating, the two tied the knot in September. But the real date that stands for recognition is November 17th. That’s the big day the little couple was officially recognized by Guinness World Record’s as the shortest married couple in the world.

Both Paulo and Katyucia have dwarfism that hinders their growth. The 31-year-old groom stands at 35.54 inches tall and his blushing bride, 28-year-old Katyucia, trumps his height by fractions of an inch, coming in at 35.88 inches.

Turkey Day may be upon us, but we know one bird who will fortunately be spared the festivities.

Leon the Turkey is a resident of Harvest Home Animal Sanctuary in Stockton, California, but his caretakers don’t describe him as a typical bird. This guy is somewhat more along the lines of a dog stuck in the body of a turkey. That’s because this little dude adores belly rubs, and loves to hug and kiss.

“He just took to people immediately,” sanctuary manager Christine Morrissey told local news stations. She said he was found wandering in the streets of Ventura County in Southern California and has been a resident (and favorite) of the sanctuary every since.

“For an animal [like this] to immediately trust us and want companionship, that is, definitely I would say, an unusual trait,” Morrissey said.

And that rust and love are coming in handy this Thanksgiving. Morrissey added that Leon is of the age to be slaughtered and served, but will be spared this Thanksgiving and all future Turkey Days because he’s such a favorite.

Turkey Who Thinks He’s A Dog Is Spared The Thanksgiving Table For Being Adorable is an article from: LifeDaily

Five teams of officers from the Fort Worth Police Department handed out Thanksgiving turkeys, instead of tickets, for small violations. 

The best part was that those getting pulled over really believed they were getting a ticket and not a turkey. 

Officer Anthony Colter was one of the officers handing out turkeys, and he told WFAA, “Even though we do enforce traffic law and we do have some unpleasant decisions to make, we still are about the people.” Colter made five stops today and pulled people over for offenses ranging from not wearing a seat belt, to failing to signal.

“We’re going to overlook that,” he told a driver. “Instead of giving out citations, we’re going to give you a Thanksgiving turkey!”

Charles Miller was one of the drivers who was pulled over for failing to signal, and he happened to be on the way to the hospital to pick up his wife who recently had knee surgery. When officers surprised Miller with a turkey, he said, “I’m going to tell everyone,” he said. “I’m going to show ’em my turkey too!”

For the officers at the Fort Worth Police Department, it was a chance to spread happiness and give people a positive reaction with police. 

One driver said of the officers’ kind gesture: “I’m pleased to see it, because there’s so much hate in this country right now,” said Howard Miles, who took home a turkey. “To see brotherly love, it’s very, very inspiring.”

A teacher in West Virginia is facing criticism after she grabbed a microphone from an autistic boy during a Thanksgiving Day-themed play. 

The boy’s father, Kent Squires, posted the video to Autism Speaks Facebook page, and wrote: “This is my little boy in his thanksgiving play he is the last kid and has level one high functioning autism he has the biggest heart and always happy now watch it and see what a teacher of kids does to him he has came home from school and said he gets to say gobble gobble cause he was playing the Turkey ? I am reaching out to see if something can be done.” 

Six-year-old Caleb Squires burst into tears when the teacher, whose name is believed to be Mrs. Linsey, grabbed the microphone from him. 

Caleb’s mom, Amanda Riddle, even posted the video on YouTube, which has gone viral. She wrote, “I left in tears because one teacher Mrs. Linsey I think her name is grabbed the microphone from Caleb and in a mean way. My son is a little different I know this but his heart is so big and he loves everyone. What does it matter if he wanted to say gobble gobble he was the turkey after all. I’m sick of kids that are not considered ‘normal’ be treated the way they are.”

Dr. Mark Machin, who works at Nutterfort Elementary School told 5 News that the teacher didn’t intend to be malicious and that “a mistake was made.” “This teacher, as all of our teachers, truly care about these young boys and girls,” Manchin said. “The program was over, at least as I understand, and the teacher had taken the microphone.”

But, after the ordeal, Amanda Riddle posted a video of her son to Facebook finally saying the words “Gobble, gobble,” that he wanted to say in the play. In addition, he thanked everyone for their support.

Evil Teacher Grabs Microphone From Autistic Boy During Thanksgiving Play is an article from: LifeDaily

An Oklahoma woman was furious after she dropped off a pregnant stray at an animal shelter and found out that after only a few days, the shelter had euthanized the mother and her babies.

Carol Towry of Tulsa says she had seen Brownie the dog wandering in her neighborhood for months. On the edge of giving birth, Towry says she feared for Brownie’s pups if they were born as strays. She decided to bring the expecting Mama into an animal shelter because she expected that would be the responsible thing to do. Little did she know, she was wrong!

On November 9, the self-proclaimed animal activist brought the dog into the shelter. On Wednesday, November 16, she went back to check on Brownie and was told the dog had been euthanized along with her pups.

Towry said she is especially angry because she had a few leads from friends and rescuers who could take care of the puppies. However, the shelter said they had no registered leads with their office and when presented with an overwhelming number of dogs joining the ranks soon, they had to make an unpleasant decision.

“We already have one mom with 10-day-old puppies and another mom with 10- to 15-day-old puppies in the shelter, and we did not need any more puppies,” Letcher said.

Community Is Outraged When They Hear Animal Shelter Euthanized Pregnant Dog is an article from: LifeDaily

When an animal shelter in Arizona needed some extra assistance taking care of newborn kittens, they turned to a local senior care facility for help. 

“To some, it may seem peculiar at first: Residents who are in need of around-the-clock care themselves, given the task to care for these young kittens,” says Catalina Springs Memory Care Executive Director Sharon Mercer. “But there are skills, emotions, and needs that do not just leave a person with Dementia or Alzheimer’s. The desire to give love and receive love remains.”

Rebecca Hamilton, the health services director at Catalina Springs, created the program and in addition to taking care of the elders, she’s also a volunteer for foster kittens. She noticed that since she started caring for the cats, she felt happier and decided to try and recreate that emotionwith the seniors. 

When first introduced to the elderly, both the condition of the lonely patients and the kittens seemed to improve.

The elders were asked to take care of two newborn cats, Peaches and Turtle, and since then, the cats have doubled in weight. 

 ”The kittens have given us the opportunity to nurture this human condition that lies in each and every one of our residents,” said Mercer.

“The joy that the elderly get from bottle feeding, socializing, and cuddling needy newborns is immense – and the kittens feel grateful too,” she continued.

At their best, zoos are a sanctuary for abused or orphaned exotic animals and a center for learning about and appreciating the creatures we share the planet with.

But at their worst, zoos are centers of abuse and neglect, where animals are exploited, so greedy humans can make a profit. When Mohammed Awaida opened the Khan Younis Zoo, also called the South Forest Park, in Gaza in 2007, he cared more about profits than he did about the 65 animals that he had smuggled in through underground tunnels.

“The concept of a zoo came to the owner because he had probably seen a successful one elsewhere in the territory and decided to copy it. He might just have easily seen a mobile phone shop and copied that instead,” said Dr. Amir Khalil. And when Israel blockaded Gaza, Awaida did nothing to help the animals, who were left to fend for themselves through bombings, raids, and food shortages.

‘It was after the 2014 fighting that the Khan Younis Zoo came on our radar. It was clear that this was a failing place. Food, medicine, basic care for the animals – everything was in short supply and they were paying for it with their lives. After 2014, the health of these animals was deteriorating rapidly. Four Paws took the decision to rescue them,” said Dr. Khalil, who directed the mission to rescue the surviving 13 animals.

When the Four Paws team arrived to rescue the animals, they discovered Laziz the tiger, who had survived on chicken carcasses and rotten fruit, in a tiny cage and immediately found him a home at the Lion’s Big Rock Sanctuary in South Africa.

“Laziz is fiercely intelligent. He was a little bit baffled at first, trading a home of 10 square meters or so for one that is 1,000 times greater in size, but all his instincts came back to him in a flash,” said Four Paws director Ioana Dungler. “He learned to jump, he craned his head to hear the roar of the other tigers. He can rake his claws as nature intended on tree trunks. Most of all he is getting the food and care he needs.”

Thanks to the caretakers at the sanctuary, Laziz is getting plenty of food and medical care as he recovers and is expected to live about 20 more years with the other tigers, lions, antelopes, and ostriches in the park. “He is safe here. The only objects that will be aimed at him from now on are cameras. He can live out his life in peace.”

Most pet owners say they’d do anything for their beloved animals, but one 5-year-old Santa Barbara boy went above and beyond when he realized his four-legged best friend was in trouble.

Lennon Knox was out playing in the backyard with his dog Sunshine when he noticed a rattlesnake next to his dog. “The snake went to go bite Lennon’s dog Sunshine and Lennon pushed Sunshine out of the way and got bit by the snake instead,” said Lennon’s mom, Amy.

Lennon saved Sunshine, but his bravery left him fighting for his life after getting a severe bite to his right toe. Amy rushed out when she realized what happened, killed the snake, and rushed Lennon to the hospital when he began foaming at the mouth.

“They said for sure if the snake had bit his dog she wouldn’t be with us so Lennon really took one for his dog. He is a hero,” said Knox about her son, who was excited to go home and be reunited with Sunshine.

5-Year-Old Fights Off A Rattlesnake That Was About To Kill His Dog is an article from: LifeDaily

Unfortunately, when most people witness an accident today, they whip their phones out and start recording and wait until help arrives.

Thankfully, however, a group of heroes in China jumped to action when they realized a girl’s life was in danger. A young woman had been riding her bike on a road when a distracted truck driver didn’t realize she had turned into a parking lot just as he also began to turn. He ended up mowing her down and dragging her several feet against the pavement when she and the bike became entangled under the truck.

The driver immediately jumped out to see if the girl was still alive, and luckily, a few strangers rushed over and worked together to lift the truck off the ground enough and pull the girl out. “I heard a loud noise and came out, then I saw a child was trapped under the pickup, so we hurried to lift the vehicle,” said Zhou Huashan, who was just passing by when the accident happened. “Over ten people were there and managed to lift the pickup, then we pulled the child out.”

The girl was immediately taken to the hospital, where doctors revealed that the girl had a few injuries to her face and leg, but thankfully, nothing was serious. “If they didn’t conduct rescue timely, my child might suffocate or die. So I’m really grateful to them,” the girl’s mom, Liu Ping, said.

Strangers Lift Truck To Rescue A Girl Who Was Run Over is an article from: LifeDaily

Fifteen-year-old Lexi Bingham spent all her free time playing every sport from golf to basketball. However, that all changed in an instant while on a snowboarding trip.

Lexi had been out snowboarding with her cousin in Salt Lake City, Utah, when she landed badly and broke her arms, legs, and her neck.”I was just lying there and told my cousin, ‘Take my board off,’ and he was like, ‘It’s already off.’ I was like, ‘Move my legs around.’ He’s doing it, and I was like ‘I can’t feel anything!'” she said.

She was rushed to the hospital where doctors discovered that she had broken several vertebrae in her neck and said she may never walk again and since her injuries were as high up as her neck, it meant she could be a quadriplegic. “I would get so mad sometimes,” Lexi said. “I would just think, ‘Let me die. Just do this.'”

Lexi spent the next three months in the hospital recovering from her traumatic injuries, and each day, a physical therapist would visit and check if she had regained any movement. Most days, the answer was no, but one day, she miraculously moved her toe.

Within a few months, she could stand again. “I stood up for like 30 seconds, and that was like a huge deal. We were all cheering and everything,” Lexi said. Now, Lexi is walking and back to playing golf, and is working on running and getting full mobility to the right side of her body. “I can run – not up to speed, doesn’t look pretty – but I can run,” she said.

So when an Arizona grandmother was tasked with sending out Thanksgiving invitations to her family via text, she attempted to send out a group message to make things easier for herself, but instead of sending an invitation to her grandson, she ended up sending his invitation to a total stranger.

On November 15, Jamal Hinton opened a group message from an unknown number with details about when and where to go for Thanksgiving dinner. The 17-year-old didn’t recognize the number, and asked who had sent the message. The sender replied that it was his grandma.

Hinton was still a little confused since he didn’t recognize any of the other numbers in the group message, and asked his ‘grandma’ to send him a selfie, and when he saw the woman in the photo he realized she had gotten the wrong number. He quickly informed her that he was not her grandson, but asked if he could still swing by for dinner. The grandma, named Wanda responded in the most adorable way possible: “Of course you can. That’s what grandma’s do…feed every one.”

Hinton couldn’t believe her response and a friend posted screenshots of their conversation to Twitter, and their interaction quickly went viral. “She was really nice!” Hinton said after meeting Wanda the next day. “A very funny, sweet lady.” Hinton also said that he was still going to attend Wanda’s Thanksgiving dinner and is planning on bringing pumpkin pie.

Puppy Hiding In His Owner’s Beard Pops Out In Splendid Surprise is an article from: LifeDaily

When Jessica Eaves was grocery shopping at a local story in Oklahoma, she was not expecting a stranger to snatch her wallet straight from her bag. 

The mother of four and a leader of a Christian outreach team at her church told Huffington Post that she suspected a man standing close behind was responsible for stealing her wallet. But instead of running to police or the store’s security, Eaves remembered a scripture that says, “If someone should take your cloak, you should give them your shirt as well.”

This passage inspired her next action, and she went over to the man and said “I think you have something of mine.  I’m gonna give you a choice. You can either give me my wallet and I’ll forgive you right now, and I’ll even take you to the front and pay for your groceries,” or she would call the police. 

So, the man reached in his pocket and gave Eave’s money back to her. Eave’s even said, “he started crying as we walked to the front. He kept apologizing and saying that he was embarrassed.”

Eaves says that while the man was very embarrassed, she assured him that she makes mistakes every day and as she believes that in the eyes of Jesus, no one sin is greater than another. 

So, she wound up paying almost $28 for the man’s groceries, which was exactly all the cash Eaves had in her wallet. “I never carry cash. When I got to the check-out counter that day his (robber’s) total was just a little over $27 and I had $28 in cash in my wallet. And so I knew in that moment it wasn’t me. It was Christ that played in that moment,” she told Christian Post. 

The man’s final words were, “I’m broke, I have kids, I’m embarrassed and I’m sorry,” but Eaves adds he was appreciative and seemed very grateful.

Womans Confronts Man Who Stole Her Wallet In The Grocery Store is an article from: LifeDaily

When Columbian police officer Luisa Fernanda Urrea responded to a frantic call about a baby abandoned near a remote forest, she rushed to help the child. 

Following her motherly instincts, Urrea noticed the child was hungry, so she decided to breastfeed the baby until paramedics arrived. “I’m a new mother and I have milk and I recognized the needs that this poor little creature had,” Urrea told CEN. “I think any woman would have given her nourishment in the same circumstances,” she continued. 

Edinora Jimenez, the woman who found the baby said, “I was collecting some oranges when I heard something crying. I thought it was a cat until I looked closer and saw that it was a baby girl.” When police commandant Javier Martin arrived on the scene, he said that the baby was so recently born that part of her umbilical cord was still attached.

He added that “the girl had some lacerations and was suffering from hypothermia. However, she was treated quickly and is now in good health.” If it had not been for Urrea’s quick thinking, the baby may have died. 

The newborn is now being cared for by the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare until they find her an adoptive family. 

Police are also searching for the infant’s mother, who may face attempted murder charges. Orphanage director Jhon Arley Murillo said: “We could be dealing with a case of attempted homicide, although it’s the prosecutor who will decide the charge.”

Police Show Why You Always Need To Thaw A Turkey First If You Decide To Deep Fry It is an article from: LifeDaily

When a stray dog found himself floating on ice in the port of Magadan, Russia, he thought he was going to die. 

It’s uncertain of how the dog got there, but the dangerous ocean carried him more than 100 miles away from shore on a small piece of ice before sailors on a ship from Poland were able to rescue him. 

Many large ships surrounded the dog, who was probably petrified, floating alone along the icy cold waters.

Thankfully, a sailor from one of the ships got into the water and was eventually able to pull the freezing dog to safety. 

It wasn’t long after the dog’s friends greeted him, and he returned to the pack, hopefully steering clear of the icy cold waters for good.

The kangaroo was spotted lying in pain on the side of a residential road, and couldn’t stand up because he was suffering from a broken hip. The officer saw no other choice but to euthanize the animal, however, he’s now being criticized for putting a child at risk while doing so.

In a video captured by a local man, Hash Tropoja, the Victoria Police officer aims his .22 caliber rifle at the animal, but just before he pulled the trigger, another police officer warned that a small child was about to pass by them on a scooter. Despite the warning, the cop recklessly shot the animal.

“There’s no question that the poor animal needed to be put down,” Hash said. “[The police officer] should have stopped once his fellow officer advised him the kid was approaching. The bullet could have rebounded on to incoming traffic. The bullet had the potential to ricochet off the concrete… Furthermore, they were there for about half an hour beforehand. They should have blocked the area off.”

“This is one of the most careless and reckless acts I’ve seen in a long time,” Hash said. “There’s so many different things that could have gone wrong. Thankfully nothing did.”
