If you feel a deep desire in you to explore and travel but are on a budget, there are clever ways to cut your travel accommodation costs.

1. Take advantage of free housing in exchange for work

HelpX has tons of different options- from hostel work to boat renovation available at various locations worldwide. All you do is browse the listing, get in touch with the host, and secure your stay (all for free).

WWOOF stands for World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms, and it’s a place where you’ll need to register in order to get access to job offers. The membership fee will depend on the country you choose to work in (e.g. $40 for USA).

2. Get involved with a hospitality exchange

A hospitality exchange is an organization that connects travelers with local residents in the cities that they’re visiting. There are many:

Couchsurfing is the biggest exchange with tons of hosts and surfers worldwide. They have a large forum where you can ask questions about the place you’re traveling to, or just find a local willing to show you around a little.

Global Freeloaders is similar to couchsurfing, but with slightly less users- mainly from Australia and the US.
Hospitality Club is a great way to meet with locals and get a free stay as well, and there are also a good amount of listings worldwide.

3. Rent an apartment

If you’re planning to stay a while, rent an apartment. The cost is certainly cheaper than most hotels, especially if you are staying at your destination for a month or so.

Airbnb contains a large number of properties worldwide. They range anywhere from private rooms to tree houses, and even airplanes, and they offer many creative rentals.

Roomorama offers a great selection of stylish rooms, apartments and houses around the globe.

Wimdu has a nice selection of summer houses at popular vacation spots around the world, as well as apartment rentals.

4. Housesit

The second best option for long-term travelers (after renting an apartment) is to watch someone’s else house while the owners are away. You will take care of their property, and maybe even a pet or two.

Trusted Housesitters is one of the most popular communities out there with tons of properties listed in Europe and South and Central America, and the annual membership won’t cost you much per month either.

Mind My House offers a number of housesitting opportunities throughout the world- from Canada to New Zealand, with an annual membership fee of only $20.

Luxury House Sitting is a premium property listing primarily in the US, with an annual membership fee of $25.

5. Book a secret hotel

Once in a while, even the best hotels can’t fill all their rooms, so they’ll see the excess at deep discounts. These deals aren’t announced to the public, but various secret services list “secret hotel deals” with limited information included.

Hotwire lists hotels with up to 60% discounted rooms on premium accommodations worldwide.

Lastminute has loads of  great deals in London and around the UK.

Priceline Express Deals lists Hotels mainly in the US sold at bargain rates.

6. Take advantage of price drop refunds

Sometimes you will book a hotel, and be unaware of a price drop that has occurred in the room after you’ve already made your purchase. But fear not, a service called Tingo is a hotel booking engine that will automatically refund the price difference back to your credit card if the hotel decided to change it. At least you’ll be sure you’ve gotten the best possible price.

7. Keep an eye on flash sales

If you don’t mind spending a few hours a day online searching for flash sales on websites and you have flexible vacation dates, you can take advantage of certain websites. You must act fast however, because these sales go away in the blink of an eye.

Jetsetter offers luxurious resorts around the globe.

LivingSocial Escapes offers discounted hotel deals with cool add-ons like free meal vouchers, excursions or fully discounted tours.

TripAlertz is a free membership website with tons of special deals on hotels and airfare.

8. Don’t book in advance

If you have the flexibility to do this, don’t book your stay in advance. If you are traveling to Southeast Asia for example, accommodation prices on the spot differ drastically from those listed on hotel booking sites. The best option is to book 1-2 nights in advance, and research other hotels in the area you like and pay them a personal visit to ask for a better price. It would probably be at least 30% lower than those sold through hotel booking engines.

The Most Courageous Rabbit You Will Ever See- Fights Snake To Save Bunnies

First let me ask you a question. What would you do if a deadly, and possibly poisonous animal was holding your own children hostage?

I think it’s safe to say most of us would do anything to save our babies, and that’s exactly the mentally this courageous rabbit had.

But wait. How could an adorable, fluffy, cotton-tailed rabbit fight off a snake?

We don’t know the answer to that, but this rabbit did.

We should rename her “Super Rabbit,” because she is just that. She leaped onto that snake like it was nobody’s business, and fought it off until it was gone for good.

She was relentless, courageous, and determined, and because we may be downplaying her, watch the video for yourself, and enjoy the adorable commentary from the children watching the fight as they cheer the rabbit on saying:  “Go Mr. Bunny get that snake!” (heart just melted)

15 Signs You are in a Relationship with Coffee

It’s hot, dark, and rich. If you are dating coffee, you’ve hit the trifecta of perfect qualities in a significant other. Hold onto your cup tightly and don’t let it get away.

People who are in the casual-fling stage of the relationship just don’t understand. They don’t have the deep commitment to coffee that you have. They don’t know the whirlwind romance you two have been through together. Perhaps, they’ve never experienced the following:

1. The total hours you’ve spent hours gazing into those rich, chocolate-colored, pools are innumerable.

2. You know the ups and downs of the relationship. Sometimes things are hot and steamy, and other times they cool down to an icy chill.

3. You’ve been burned too many times to count, yet you keep coming back.

4. You’ve tried to break up with coffee multiple times, but it always finds you on a street corner, begging you to come back.

5. You secretly–or outwardly, judge people that abuse their relationship with coffee (“Six Splenda?!” you scoff. “Who would mutilate a perfectly good cup of coffee like that?”)

6. Your barista knows you well. He’s the matchmaker that set you two up and will probably be the best man at the wedding.

7. You wake up with your significant other every morning, smiling and happy to be with somebody who understands you so well.

8. Your relationship with coffee is hot and bitter (but all great romances are).

9. You cheated on coffee once and drank tea. You’ll never do that again. It sucked the energy out of you and left you feeling empty.

10. After you spend time with your beloved, you feel giddy and energetic.

11. If you go too long without coffee, you feel a sad loss of enthusiasm.

12. Your friends have told you that your relationship is unhealthy, but they just don’t understand what the two of you have been through.

13. Sometimes, you have trouble falling asleep at night. You toss and turn restlessly, because of your previous encounter with coffee.

14. When you have that first cup in the morning, your heart flutters with excitement and your pulse awakens.

15. When you go without coffee for too long, you begin to feel sick. You’re so in love with your significant other, your body literally responds with illness when you can’t be near them.

9 Science Based Tactics To Win An Argument

Argument: A series of statements typically used to persuade someone of something or to present reasons for accepting a conclusion.

Do you know how to win an argument? LifeDaily is about to share with you 9 Science Based Tactics To Win An Argument: We hope they work for you…

1. Be civil

No matter what you must remain civil. Respect the other person’s beliefs, no matter how ridiculous they sound to you. In doing this, you will gain your opponent’s respect, which will make them more likely to listen to your point of view. There is no argument to be had in the first place, if you do not remain civil. Just like political psychologist Peter Ditto says: “When people have their self-worth validated in some way, they tend to be more receptive to information that challenges their beliefs.”

2. Practice extreme agreement

Extreme agreement is showing people the logical conclusion to their beliefs. This basically means to explain to people their own worldview- not the opposing one that conflicts with their beliefs. If you show them the opposing view, the parts of their brain that handle reason and logic go dormant, and the parts of their brain that handle hostility lights up.

3. Be confident

A 2013 study found that people don’t actually listen to the smartest person in the room, they listen to the person who acts as if they know what is right. Even management Professor Bryan Bonner says people unconsciously look for “messy proxies for expertise like extroversion, gender, race, or confidence level instead of paying attention to what people are actually saying. We’d hope that facts would be the currency of influence, but often, we guess at who’s the expert-  and we’re wrong.”

4. Ask open ended questions

Ask open ended questions only. Do not ask questions that require only a yes or no response. If you’re in a spat with your spouse for example, couples psychologist John Gottman advises to ask questions to encourage him/her to open up. Some examples: What has made you feel this way? Is there anything that I can do to help?

5. Don’t ask why, ask how

In a study by psychologist Philip M. Fernbach, people with extreme political views were separated into two groups- people who had to explain why their opinions were right, and those who were asked to explain how their ideals could be turned into actual policy. The result was that people who gave their reasons for being right (the whys) were just as confident in their views as they were before the experiment, whereas people who had to explain how their ideals could be turned into actual policy, had softer and somewhat changed views.

6. I know it seems contradictory, but don’t try to win the argument

If you become so focused on winning the argument your persuasion kicks in and once that happens, it’s no longer an exercise in logic and reasoning- it’s just a fight. Once it’s war, you’re no longer focused on what’s right, and it becomes winning by any means necessary. It can get ugly, it can get dirty, and it will go nowhere fast. Take your partner’s views, and advance them to their logical, maybe slightly absurd conclusion.

7. Use graphs

Researchers Aner Tal and Brian Wansink conducted a study at Cornell University which demonstrates how much people trust scientists, so by using a graph, you appear very trustworthy, and you have scientific facts to back up your views. Most people will shut up, when you show them a graph, and “the prestige of science appears to grant persuasive power even to such trivial science-related elements as graphs,” says Tal and Wansink.

8. Demonstrate that other people agree

In Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion, author Robert Cialdini says “social proof” is one of the best tactics for getting people to see things your way because “it exploits the well-documented tendency for people to conform to others’ opinions, even if they’re strange.” According to social proof, we assume what other people are doing is the correct behavior in a situation. This is the reason sold out items are so much more appealing to us, as well as really long lines, and fully booked reservations in restaurants.

9. Go for consensus

Many often use consensus as the ultimate argument-winner, and for good reason. As Jacquelyn Gill writes on Contemplative Mammoth: “Scientific consensus is the collected opinions of all scientists, and not just the one you’re arguing with. There can be one or two scientists who disagree (just like there are a handful of people who don’t believe the Holocaust happened), but if the vast majority of scientists have reached consensus, it means that there is so much evidence in support of an idea that it’s basically a guaranteed thing, based on state-of-the-art knowledge.”

10 Things You Should Start Doing in your Twenties

$

Take a look around you right now. Put the phone down for a moment, turn away from your laptop, and breathe in your surroundings. Absorb the whitewashed walls, the scent of coffee wafting through the cafe, or the rickey sound of subway rails. It’s okay, take a moment, I’ll wait.

You, my friend, are looking at the prime of your life. Right now, you are the most physically in-shape you will ever be. In addition to having the least amount of responsibility you will ever have, you also have most amount of freedom. How do you want to spend these years?
The good news is, right now, you have nothing but time. You have an infinite present to explore every facet of life, take up interests, and push your life in the direction you want it to go. While you can still party and have fun being wild and reckless, you should also sit down quietly and mediate on who you want to be. Forty-year-old you will thank you for it.

1. Start reading regularly

The industrial revolution came and went with the ebb and flow of history, but it left in its wake a new era: the intellectual revolution. Nerd is the new cool. Having a well-cultivated taste in literature makes you interesting and holding an ideological conversation makes somebody worth talking to. It doesn’t matter how long it takes you to get through a book, as long as you read a little each week.

2. Stop dating unworthy, d-bags

If your relationship feels like a Taylor Swift music video, you should probably ditch the unsavory dude. When you’re in a tumultuous relationship it feels magical. There are the highs that top Mount Everest, but similarly lows that leave you in the depths of hell. Your life feels like a movie and it makes you think love is a drug. Mature, adult relationships are stable though and if your significant other makes you feel like you’re on a roller coster, step off the ride and tell them that you are never, ever getting back together…like ever.

3. Learn how to become financially independent

Financial independence is really hard. I should know–I’m paying my own rent for the first time and it’s painful. However, it’s equally rewarding to know that I’m relying on nobody but myself. When you handle your money responsibly, and take it into your own hands, you become more confident, which affects you in other area of life. Yes, you have to skimp on certain material items and possibly give up going out with friends every so often, but handling your finances well makes you feel like a million bucks (metaphorically).

4. Take pride in your living space

Make your bed, do the dishes, and clean up after yourself. Try hanging a few strings of Christmas lights in your bedroom and decorating the place with candles (just don’t burn it down). You’ll feel better coming home to a tranquil environment at the end of the day, especially when it’s one that you want to be in.

5. Keep up with current events

You don’t have to be like my Dad (an angry, white guy who’s hooked up to the news like it’s life support) but have a general understanding of current events issues. It’s cool to take a stand on issues involving gun control or the upcoming election. Just make sure you understand the issues enough to discuss them and try not to get into any brawls.

6. Figure out your beliefs

Don’t coast through life having the same beliefs your parents drilled into you. Question everything and develop substantial beliefs in where you came from (literally, how did the atoms in your body come into being and who put them there?). If atheism is appealing to you, read up on atheist philosophers and understand their point of view. If you maintain interest in the religion you grew up with, don’t be afraid to question it and understand why you believe what you do.

7. Develop a relationship with a Professor (no, not that kind of relationship)

If you are still in college, take an interest in a professor. Ask questions, sit in the front, show them you like their class. Not only are they experts in the field you are going into, they probably worked in that field. You’d be surprised by the connections some of them have–not to mention they’re incredibly smart. Not only will they help you professionally, they’ve probably been in your shoes and will make a great mentor.

8. Sit down and seriously ask yourself, “what am I doing with my life?”

Try developing a five-year plan. If you coast through life unsure of what you want to do, you’ll end up letting the world tell you what to do. Learn about yourself, find out what makes you happy, and go for it. This might mean taking night classes at community college or moving to another state. But, life is going to be hard no matter what you decide to pursue. Every choice comes with its challenges. You’re going to have to work at it either way, so you might as well work toward something worth doing.

9. Step out of your comfort zone at least once a week

Author Neale Donald Walsch said, “life begins at the end of your comfort zone.” Don’t spend all day, everyday walking within the confines of your routine. Step out and push the boundary. Join meetup.com and become a part of a hiking group. Volunteer at a local soup kitchen. If you see an attractive stranger, strike up a conversation (in a non-creepy way). The worst they can do is reject you, and you’d be surprised how good rejection can be for your ego.

10 Things Real Coffee Lovers Know to Be True

woman-drinking-coffee

Coffee comes in all colors, sizes, and tastes. But REAL coffee lovers are the experts, and they have very serious feelings about their favorite cup of joe.

From the amount of sugar or milk added, to the places you get your daily order, if you’re a coffee lover, coffee is a big part of your life. Here are 10 things that all coffee lovers know to be true.

1. Your day starts with your first cup of coffee, not when you wake up.

But usually, between waking up and having coffee is a small window of time. Because you can’t–or won’t–function without coffee. Anyone trying to talk to you before your coffee is risking their own lives.

2. A Starbucks Frappuccino is not coffee, and those who drink them are not coffee lovers.

Starbucks coffee is okay, but a frappuccino is mostly sugar (and some don’t even have any coffee in them). If someone complains all day about how they are craving their coffee and then order this sugar-milk parading as coffee, they are not real coffee lovers.

3. Decaf is also not ~real~ coffee. Sorry, not sorry.

Caffeine is a lifestyle. Decaf is for losers. It’s also pretty unhealthy when it’s not organic because of the process it takes to strip the caffeine out. So there.

4. It’s not eXpresso. Seriously, stop.

Say it with us: espresso. Pronunciation: /eˈspresˌō/. It’s an “s,” no matter what anyone says.

5. When friends travel abroad, you always ask them to bring back coffee.

A good friend will bring you a trinket from wherever they studied abroad. A BEST friend will bring you coffee beans.

6. You can drink a good cup of coffee black.

And those who can’t aren’t loyal and don’t deserve the good coffee. Black coffee is ~everything~ to you. You love the smell and the taste. Not to mention, drinking your coffee black will make everyone else in the coffee shop take you seriously. It brands you as a real coffee lover.

7. Coffee is like 75% of the reason you passed your classes in college.

From early morning classes, to pulling all-nighters, coffee was your personal tutor and your best friend. You couldn’t have made it through every semester without your daily dose, and for that reason, you will always be grateful.

8. There is one place where you like to get your coffee.

Whether it’s your own kitchen (where you grind your own beans TYVM), or the small cafe around the corner, you have your favorite coffee and you are obsessed with it. You try to get your drink there every day, and it is that coffee that you dream about at night.

9. But you have your coffee order at the three next-closest places memorized.

Just in case. When your cafe is closed or you forgot to restock the kitchen, you know the next best coffee order and where to get it. You even know what kind of coffee you’d get at McDonalds, if worst comes to worst.

10. The day your barista knows first knows you by name is the best day ever.

It’s a very serious relationship. Maybe the most serious. Because they are the person who brings you the coffee. And that, my friends, is true love.

9 Things Successful People Do In Their 20’s

marcandangel.com

Your 20’s lay the foundation for your future.

Your career, relationships, health, and well-being are all dependent upon these critical years, and you can either waste them, or take advantage of them. This decade is one full of many ups and downs, but also fantastic opportunities for growth and change.

To help you lay your foundation, here are LifeDaily’s 9 Things Successful People Do In Their 20’s:

1. They learn to manage their time

When you are first starting your career, it can be hard to manage your time effectively. In order to take full advantage and be productive, an entrepreneur and author named Etienne Garbugli suggests two key things to help you manage your time better: 1. Setting deadlines for everything you’re working on, and 2. Avoiding multitasking.

2. They don’t prioritize money before all else

While there are some that spend their 20’s drifting off into outer space with no real direction, there are others who are so afraid of failure, that they take a job only because it provides a comfortable pay check. Rich Tatum, a Quora user explains that a job you’re not interested in quickly becomes a career, and by the time you’re 30, it’s a lot harder to start pursuing your passion. “The key is to pursue something that you’re passionate about and is valuable to employers.”- Author Cal Newport

3. They save

Bankrate did a survey of approximately 1,000 people and found that 69% of those ages 18-29 had no retirement savings at all. Most twenty-somethings can hardly think about next week, let alone their retirement savings. And while this is normal, it is smart to start looking into your company’s 401(k) plan if they have one, or if not, open an IRA again. The longer you wait to do this, you’re just missing out on years of money gained through interest.

4. They develop a debt repayment plan

Most 20-something’s have a ton of debt, either from college or graduate school. But, your debt doesn’t need to linger on for the rest of your life, haunting you until you repay it all. If you develop a debt repayment plan, you can monitor how much of your debt you are paying off. If you see you are making progress, you won’t continue to worry about it every day until it’s paid off.

5. They take care of their health

Every year that goes by, it becomes harder to get into a workout regimen, and takes even longer to recover from a late night of drinking. If you develop healthy habits while you’re still young, they will set you up for the next phase of your life. You can enjoy your vices in moderation, eat well, and choose to workout instead of drinking all night.

6. They don’t try to please everyone

As you get older, you realize that it’s more important to be true to yourself, rather than please everyone else. Successful 20 something’s know this, and they know that while it’s best to be on friendly terms with their boss, and coworkers, they know that not everyone is going to like them. The sooner you accept this, the better off you will be. And you will meet people throughout your life that you don’t like as well.

7. They’re persistent

In life, you may get fired from your job, have a relationship end, or have your company fail. And while all of these are devastating things, they are part of life. Only the truly successful are able to learn from what went wrong and move forward with persistence. All of the problems you will experience in your life are opportunities. Opportunities to learn, to grow, and to do better for the next time. Noone gets it right every time around, but persistence will keep you in the game.

8. They’re honest

Manipulating others and being disingenuous won’t get you far in the long run, and they’re not keys to a lasting, and fruitful career. Author Arjuna Perkins says:  “The truth has a way of rearing its ugly head, so the sooner you can come to integrity with yourself and the world at large, the sooner you’ll be able to get working towards what you really want, who you really want to be.”

9. They let things go

Picking fights and holding grudges will make you miserable in your personal and professional life. And learning to let things go now will save you a lot of stress and headaches in your future. All of your hard work may not always be recognized, and people are going to disappoint you, but never let that be an excuse to be lazy or bitter.

Please share any successful habits for people in their 20’s. We can certainly use it.

10 Signs You’re an Introvert Who Thinks They’re an Extrovert

True or false: extroverts are the fun, adventure-seekers who enjoy engaging, social situations and will often be the life of the party, while introverts will sit in the corner making friends with the food table because they hate social interaction. If you’re first instinct was to call this truth, you have to rethink what you know about introversion.

Introversion and extroversion, a psychological theory popularized by Carl Jung, is a fluid scale. It doesn’t have to do with an individual’s behavior as much as it has to do with where they draw their energy from. An extrovert will feel invigorated by spending time with large groups, where an introvert loses energy from being with people, even if they enjoy the company. On the other hand, an introvert feels refreshed and anew by spending time alone.

Many of us confuse introversion with extroversion in specific circumstances and even misjudge how we, ourselves are. Being young and blossoming into adulthood means frequently going to social events, spending our free time with friends, and living with a lot of other young people. Because of the environment we live in, introverts can easily mistake themselves for extroverts. However, if the following sound like you, you might secretly be an introvert.

1. Small talk is like a Dementor sucking your soul out with a bendy straw

It’s a common misconception that introverts dislike talking to people. In reality, they just hate small talk, and it has nothing to do with the person. Small talk feels like vain, idle chatter that people spew when they have nothing of relevance to discuss. Like corporate jargon, it creates a barrier of falseness that leaves an introvert feeling fake and empty.

2. Instead, you’d much rather discuss the meaning of life

If you find yourself at a party (which you often do because you like people), you’re probably talking with just one or two other friends and the conversation is fairly deep. You’ve been called “intense” because your default mode is discussing the universe, life, and humanity. “But like seriously, what if determinism exists and every move we make was set into motion and controlled by the big bang 13.7 billion years ago?!”

3. You get bored quickly with large crowds

When you’re out with friends you might feel alone or dulled by the large group of people. In the beginning of the night, you were excited by the idea of going out dancing with your 40 closest friends, but now you’re starting to have second thoughts. You’ll seek out one specific person to have a discussion with or you might even wander off by yourself.

4. You enjoy having free time with no plans

An extrovert might feel antsy with too much free time and not much to fill it with, but introverts enjoy the reprieve. Whether they make a cup of coffee and go through a stack of magazines, or have a hobby they enjoy taking part in, introverts know how to spend time with themselves and sometimes prefer it to time with other people.

5. You are always trying to improve yourself

Because introverts really like spending time alone, they tend to work toward making themselves a better person to be alone with. They like to reflect upon their thoughts and figure out ways to improve. They’re always trying to change something about their attitude or learn a new skill. If they aren’t happy with the direction their life is taking, they’ll figure out a way to change it.

6. Your inner dialogue is relentless

It’s like being in Times Square on New Years Eve at Midnight (which, by the way, is an introverts worst nightmare). You have a multi-faceted personality and each one vies constantly for your attention. You are in touch with your feelings and if you ignore your thoughts for too long and don’t work through any issues, the cacophony in your head turns into a full on riot.

7. You like to take long walks

Because of the loud, inner monologue hogging space in your head, you need to devote a little time each week to listening to these thoughts. The best way, you’ve realized, to take care of this is by going for a long walk. You might even leave your cell phone behind so you don’t have to worry about being bothered by anybody while your trying to think. Thinking is something you take seriously.

8. Your periods of work, solitude, and socializing are cyclical

Because of the point in your life that you are currently at, you’re always being pulled in different directions to juggle multiple work and social activities. You’ll go through some periods where you’re a social butterfly, but then as soon as you have downtime, you don’t talk to anybody.

9. You enjoy parties

Contrary to popular belief, introverts actually enjoy going out to parties–they just don’t enjoy meeting a ton of new people. Meeting somebody at a party is a shallow, fake encounter. You rarely see them after the first meeting so it feels pointless and a little phony. However, if many of the introvert’s friends are there, they will love the atmosphere and seek out each friend individually to catch up (followed by a deep conversation).

10. You’re a writer

If you enjoy writing short stories, keep a journal, or you simply are a reader, chances are you are an introvert. Solitary activities that require self-reflection and an inner voice are linked with introversion. Being an introvert has nothing to do with social anxiety. So, you could very easily spend an afternoon journaling and hiking alone, before you set out for a night in the city with a ton of friends. But when you’re done and ready to go home, nothing stands between you and your glorious bed.

5 Financial Risks Worth Taking

While the payoff for these financial risks isn’t immediate, you will reap the benefits for the rest of your life…

Still afraid to take the plunge? Read LifeDaily’s 5 Financial Risks Worth Taking:

1. Traveling abroad

Seeing the world can be one of the most rewarding things you will ever experience. Not to mention, it will get you out of your bubble, and allow you to expand your mind and see what else is out there.  There are many programs available for young people to travel abroad, and many opportunities available within college. If you didn’t go away in college however, and you think you missed the boat, you couldn’t be more wrong. While you must have the funds to travel, you can make do. You will come home with a fresh mind and new perspective, that may earn you more money than you were making before.

2. Attending college

There is no better place to put your money than in school. No matter what people tell you: “It’s a waste” or “You don’t need a degree for that,” an undergraduate and graduate school degree is invaluable. While some just go to college because they are forced (by family for example), some actually go because they really want to. They want to learn, and they know that there is no better outlet to do so than school. If you go to poor countries, they will tell you that they would die to be able to go to college.

3. Quitting an awful job

Even if you don’t have another opportunity lined up immediately, choosing to quit a job that you hate, and because you can’t take it anymore is a smart career decision. If your job is starting to take a major toll on your mental health, it’s time to walk away. A boss that doesn’t respect you or show his/her appreciation, will probably never respect you nor show their appreciation. If you can’t see yourself working at your job for many years to come, then it’s time to find a new one.

4. Investments in the market

While it is true that investing comes with risk, we’re talking about calculated risks here. For e.g., not throwing your cash into stocks carelessly. Young people are warming up more to the idea of making investments in the market, and this is a smart choice. It is certainly better than wasting your money on a night out, or on a handbag, or pair of shoes. At least with investing there is a chance of not only making your money back, but making a large sum on top of it. While there is no actual guarantee of this, or even of a break-even return, smart investing is a calculated risk worth the potential long-term rewards.

 5. Major relocation

While just picking up and relocating can be super scary, sometimes it’s the best thing you can do for yourself. Pursuing an opportunity that takes you outside of your ‘norm’ or social sphere is always a good idea for you. If your job offers you an opportunity to relocate, don’t hesitate to take it. A strange and new city means new possibilities, and new experiences that will enable you to grow as a person. When you’re young and unsure of where you can see yourself living for the rest of your life, you will never be able to know for sure that you love where you’re living, if you’ve never lived anywhere else.

money

Everyone needs money–you have to pay your rent, for food, probably your college loans. Sometimes getting a job isn’t enough. Is there another way to earn some cash?

Thankfully, there are a ton of ways to make a few dollars that you’ve probably never heard of. We’re not talking about getting a second (or third) job here. We’re talking about the 13 most unusual ways to make money.

1. Rent your friendship.

Consider yourself a good friend? Why not get paid for it? Go to the website rentafriend.com, where you can literally do just that.

2. Become a customer service representative from home.

Some big companies are abandoning the call-centers half way around the world in favor of hiring people like you. All you’ll need is a headset and a phone.

3. Sell your hair.

It’s not as creepy as it sounds–those with 10 inches of hair to spare can sell it to make wigs. The nicer your hair is, the more money you can make. So get to growing!

4. Sell scrap metal.

There are many companies that will buy pretty much any scrap metal you have lying around. Since there’s pretty much no other purpose for it, why not make some cash?

5. Sign up for a clinical trial.

Many universities and other organizations have research trials that you can get paid to participate in. Potential side effects aside, you can make some money while helping to solve problems.

6. Play video games.

This one you’re probably already doing, but now, take it to the next level. If you’re a great player, you can enter tournaments and play for cash. Otherwise, you can stream your playing on twitch.tv.

7. Participate in a focus group.

You can sign up to be one of the first people to see a product or service, and get paid for giving your honest opinions. It’s basically a win-win.

8. Do housework…for other people.

If you aren’t the type of person who hates housework, sign up on Zaarly.com to sell your housecleaning, gardening, or handyman services.

9. Teach English online.

You probably know someone who’s heading off to another country to teach English. But you can do it from the privacy of your home with an internet connection. Sign up to teach a video conference on italki.com.

10. Use your artistic talents.

Go to the website Fiverr.com right now and tell hundreds of people what your skills are. Whether it’s graphic design help, recording music tracks, designing a brand logo, or anything else, you’re likely to get a customer (or two) fairly quickly.

11. Let your apps do it for you.

Download an app like Viggle to make money fast while doing basically nothing. On Viggle, you can earn points to redeem for gift cards while you do normal things like watch TV or listen to music.

12. Sell things you don’t want on Craigslist.

No need to keep the clutter–put it up on Craigslist and see who’s interested. Alternatively, you could have a garage sale to make some money.

13. House sit for someone.

Thankfully, this isn’t just limited to your friends anymore. Now you can sign up at housesittersamerica.com and become a house sitter anywhere in the country. Road trip anyone?

10 Simple Steps To Help You Pay Off Your Debts

$

techsling.com

Being in debt is no fun, and it can make you feel like you’re sinking even if you’re not.

When you owe money to credit card companies, you likely feel trapped and overwhelmed. You may feel like you will never get out of your debt, but if you break it down, dollar by dollar, you can come up with a plan to pay it off, which will make you feel a lot better.

LifeDaily has composed 10 Simple Steps To Help You Pay Off Your Debt:

Step #1: Find out how much you owe

This is the most obvious step, but right now go online or call your bank and find out exactly how much you owe.

Step #2: Rank debts in order of size

A repayment strategy by Dave Ramsey called the “snowball method”, teaches you to pay off your smallest debt first, then use the mental boost to tackle the next biggest, and so on.

Step #3: Or Rank debts in size of interest rate

Alternatively, you can pay off the debt of your highest interest rate credit card first. This will enable you to ultimately pay less over the life of your loans.

Step #4: Know how much you’re spending

If you don’t know how much money you have coming in and out, you’ll never be able to figure out how much cash you can devote to your debt.

Step #5: Live below your means

Spending more than you make is probably how you got into debt in the first place, but to get out of it, you must live below your means, so you have spare cash for your payments.

Step #6: Allot cash for minimum payments

Every week or two (however often you get paid), set cash aside for each of your minimum payments on your cards. If you can afford to pay more, than definitely do that.

Step #7: Automate your payments

You can automate your payments so that every month, on the 20th for example, the money you choose to pay for your credit card will come directly out of your account. This eliminates the possibility that you forget to pay it when it’s due.

Step#8: Reduce your regular expenses

If you can reduce the prices of monthly costs like your utilities, gas, and groceries than definitely do so. This will leave you some extra cash to pay your debt.

Step #9: Spend less on things you don’t need

New clothes, a night out, vacations or restaurants are nice, but paying off your debt might make you feel a lot better than those things could.

Step #10: Bring in extra cash

Sell some things online, take a part-time or freelance job, or do whatever you can to contribute towards your payments.

We hope these 10 Simple Steps To Help You Pay Off Your Debt helped. If you have any you’d like to share, please do so in the comments below.

Don’t Fall for the Girl Who Is Alone

$

Fall instead for the girl who is the center of attention. She is the one sipping fruity drinks and dancing under street lights. Love the girl who wants to take the world by storm, who demands it. Words will flutter out of her mouth as she prattles on about her dreams over white wine and red velvet cake.

She’ll twirl in white dresses and wear floppy sun hats when you go to the beach. Smile at her like she is the star that shines brighter than the rest and take her out dancing. Treasure her, because she treasures you. When you bicker, apologize, and when you brawl apologize more. Tell her you think she is the most beautiful person you’ve ever met, because she is. When the fighting loses its intensity and the bickering silences, you’ll be inclined to let go. You’ll want to let the hating words fizzle into silent, dispassionate resentment.

You’ll see her a stone silhouette, shimmering against the orange background of the woman you loved–love. You still love her, but your love has changed.

Whatever happens, just don’t fall for the girl who is alone. She isn’t alone because she is lonely. Instead, she basks in the glory of solitude and hears music in the silence. Her thoughts are a chaotic flurry, and she listens with the finely-tuned ear of a concert pianist.

You’ll meet her at that same bar, but she’s not the one basking in the glow of socialization. Instead, she’s soberly sitting in the corner, a hint of a smirk playing in her eyes as she observes. She loves to observe. She loves to quietly take in the world around her and study the fellow members of her species. She’ll pry into your thoughts, she’ll catalog everything you say and call upon it on a rainy day, like it’s pink sunshine breaking through dreary clouds.

She’ll sit in silence reading a book for hours, or disappear for days because she likes to wander. On warm summer nights she’ll leave out the back door and return an hour later, having mulled over the bubbling cacophony that frequently brews in her head.

The girl who is alone is drawn to ideas. She knows how big the world is, and her greatest fear is not experiencing enough. She feels hindered by the tiny vibrations of small talk and instead wants to gulp up the bellowing shouts of philosophy. When she does talk, it will last for hours, and not once will it be laced with gossip. She’ll chew your ear to imperceptible pieces discussing the latest documentary she came across or the literary perfection of a book.

And then she’ll stop talking. The girl who is alone knows the importance of hearing the silence, so she will follow its elusive trail. She knows that life is short and youth is limited. She’ll hunt it with the skill of an archer and study it like an archeologist. She’ll share her findings, and when you don’t understand, she’ll pull away.

The girl who is alone knows herself. She reflects. She sees the harsh realizations you throw at her all already true, and has accepted these as part of herself. She’s studied you and she knows you. When she hurls an insult at you the pain will vibrate in your bones. Her harsh words will pull you in, as much as they push you away.

There is passion in the violence of her voice and zest in what she thinks of you. She is like a drug you yearn for. You are addicted to her, but she is not addicted to you. Like fine wine, once she’s had a moderate fill of you, she’ll move on.

She fears being held back by you, so she’ll leave and you’ll feel empty. It will be a pain worse than any other, but a pain you’ll never have to feel because you never spoke to the girl who is alone.

Be glad you didn’t fall for her, and instead you fell for the social butterfly. You understand her coldness; you know how she feels. You’ll never understand the girl who is alone, and she’ll never understand you. She doesn’t need to and she certainly doesn’t want to. She’s alone and happy.

7 Easy Ways to Make Friends After Graduation

how-to-make-new-friends-after-college-1024x768

Post-grad life comes with a lot of new responsibilities. But what happens when you move to a new town and don’t know anyone? How are you supposed to make friends as an adult?

You’ve probably spent your entire life with a friend group you made in school. But now that you don’t have any classes to attend, what do you do? Making new friends as an adult is terrifying, and difficult, but here are a few steps you can take towards forging a new friendship.

1. Look around your office.

Hopefully, your brand-new adult life comes with a brand-new adult job. Since you’ll be spending most of your time during the week here, why not try to find some friends who work with you? You’ll get to spend all day together, and you’ll always have someone to go to happy hour with or complain about the boss to.

2. Networking events aren’t just for work.

Networking is the word you always hear when you are talking about starting your career, but it kind of also applies to starting a new friendship. Going to these events can have two purposes for you: to meet people who can mentor you, and to meet other young adults who are also looking for friends.

3. Join a gym.

From the locker room to the exercise classes, the possibilities to start up a casual conversation with a stranger are endless at the gym. Maybe try asking someone to grab a bite after your yoga or Zumba class is over. And hey, if you don’t meet anyone, at least you’ll be doing something healthy for yourself.

4. Go on dates.

This might seem strange, but you don’t need to be looking for “the one.” You can use dating to your advantage–it’ll help you meet new people. Your date might be someone who you don’t immediately click with, but could become a friend. Or, you might go on a date to a party full of new friends to meet. You never know.

dating

5. Actually go to those alumni events.

Your inbox is filling up with opportunities to get to know new people. And going to these events comes with it’s own conversation starter: mention old friends you might have in common or favorite professors who taught you. College can continue to help you into your adult life.

6. Use social media.

It’s becoming more and more common that people meet and become friends via the internet and their favorite social network. Use Instagram, Twitter, or your personal blog to meet people who you have things in common with, and set up a meeting. Of course, you have to be careful when meeting someone on the web, but it might turn out to be a great friendship!

7. Go back to class.

We’re not talking about more school, but instead, a class on a subject you’ve always wanted to try. Want to learn how to cook? Or how about a new style of dance? Going to classes will not only teach you a valuable (or at least interesting) skill, but it will also put you in a room with people you have things in common with! Starting a conversation will be easy, and just let it go from there.

10 Easy Ways To Cut Down On Your Spending

$
0
0

Maybe you’ve noticed yourself overindulging a little too much when making purchases recently. It may have become such a habit for you, that you aren’t as conscious of what you’re actually spending your money on.

One minute it’s there, and the next minute it’s gone. And that’s the thing about money- it comes and goes. But if you cannot be spending as much as you have been, LifeDaily is going to teach you 10 Easy Ways To Cut Down On Your Spending. They are not going to affect you too much, so don’t get worried.

1. Buy all your go-to items in bulk

If you’re constantly repurchasing the same products all the time, it is safe to say they are staples in your home. For these things, it is best to buy in bulk, or when you see a sale.

2. Prepare meals for the week

Eating out, ordering take-out, or getting lunch everyday at work or school can definitely add up. You will save a significant amount of money if you prepare meals for the week at home, and the added benefit of this is that you will eat healthier, instead of being starving and eating the first thing you see.

3. Stop buying bottled water

Get a refillable bottle instead. Purchasing bottled water quickly adds up, and depending on where you go, just one bottle can be overpriced. Keep a refillable bottle handy and fill up when you can.

4. Sign up for customer rewards at the places you always shop at

I know, it’s annoying when people constantly ask you if you have a rewards card, BUT for the places that you are frequenting, it really helps to have a rewards or points card because it could save you a lot of money on your purchases. You may think that $5 here and $5 there doesn’t add up, but over time it really does.

5. Whenever you make dinner, make twice as much, and take it for lunch the next day

Make a little more food at dinner, and there’s your meal for lunch. You won’t even need to separately prepare lunch because it’s already there for you- easy as pie.

6. Stop making impulse purchases

Patience pays, and impulse purchases are the quickest way to spend a lot of money. I know it can be hard sometimes, but avoid making these purchases. If you are going to shop online, try ebates, as you actually get a check in the mail back for shopping there- I’ve seen physical checks my friends have cashed in from ebates.

7. Unsubscribe yourself from the stores that send you constant emails

Ex: “Spring Is Here- These Are The Must Haves You Should Have In Your Wardrobe!” If you are constantly seeing emails like this, eventually you’re going to cave.

8. Buy cards, and gifts supplies in advance

When you are running around trying to get a gift for someone, you will spend just about anything because it’s last minute. Many of the things you are purchasing are probably overpriced, so by buying gift supplies in advance and in bulk- like a pack of cards in bulk, you are saving yourself money and also a headache in the future.

9. Shop at different places for different things

Shop Costco or Sam’s Club for staples like milk, eggs, butter, cheese and sugar, and Trader Joe’s for inexpensive snacks- of course more speciality, but not bad prices there.

10. Have fun for less

Groupon has a lot of discounted activities to choose from, and other fun for less ideas include: breakfast and a movie: amc theaters offer $6 movies before noon, watch your old family videos, game night at home- and add silly bets to make it fun, find free events in your city by doing a quick internet search, or simply enjoy the outdoors by biking, running, or rollerblading.

These are just some easy ways to cut down on your spending, but there are a ton more! Please share your thoughts in the comments below.

Look, Justin Bieber Bares It All

Justin Bieber, who may or may not have been inspired by Kim Kardashian’s butt cheeks, is taking a crack (pun intended) at breaking the internet, himself.

Warning: the photo below is mildly NSFW (if butt cheeks offend you).

The superstar, bad-boy, heartthrob, posted a picture of himself on Monday, pointing at the island where he apparently left his swim trunks. The photo, which has captured over 1.5m likes in just 12 hours, has the simple and very eloquent caption of, “look.”
The Biebs is truly a master of wit. He’s pointing to an island, but when we look closely, we can see Bieber is actually capable of producing a facetious double entendre. He alludes to the island, but is also asking us to “look” at those sculpted (and dare I say illuminated) butt cheeks, which just happen to be front and center. We see what you did there, Justin.

So, my avid reader, here’s where you come in. While Kim Kardashian did not manage to break the internet a few months ago with her Paper photoshoot, perhaps Bieber will succeed where she failed. He has already garnered quite a few likes and comments, but this waning pop star can do better. He needs your help. He needs your likes, your shares, and your thoughts on the matter. Don’t let this attention whore go unnoticed.

I know you guys rallied when #TheDress went viral (for the record it was confirmed that the dress was blue and black–I personally saw white and gold, but to each her own). And let’s not forget Kony 2012. If we could work together for these causes, surely we can help Biebs accomplish his dreams of breaking the internet–just this one time.
